Toluca Lake
Toluca Lake is technically situated within two communities, Burbank and North Hollywood, on the southeast side of the San Fernando Valley. As all of the San Fernando Valley, Toluca Lake was once farmland and its original name was Forman Toluca Ranch. Crops of apples, walnuts, and peaches were harvested here until the 1920s when the first house was built on Valley Spring Lane.
There is an actual lake that is roughly 6 acres in diameter; it was at one time fed by natural springs but now the City maintains the water level. The lake is not visible to the general public because it is surrounded by the Lakeside Golf Club and homes. The lake can be used for private parties, boating, and fishing as well.
Toluca Lake is nestled in the Santa Monica Mountains; although one might assume the real estate to be mountainous, it is rather flat. The housing is primarily single-family residences from the 1930s and 1940s. These range from grand estates to small quaint homes. On Cahuenga Blvd, Moorpark St. and Riverside Drive one can find apartment rentals and town homes. Property prices range from $525,000 to millions; with the median price for a single-family residence being $680,000. The highly desirable homes located on the lake and golf course are rarely up for sale.
There are many attractions nearby, including the original Bob's Big Boy Drive-in, Garry Marshall's Falcon Theatre, Hollywood, Universal Studios and Universal Studios City Walk, Griffith Park, and Warner Brothers Studios.
Universal City offers an eventful day of events for any tourist or resident and is very close to Toluca Lake. There are many specialty shops, malls, and restaurants to choose from; Toluca Lake has a lot to offer in such a small space.
