Studio City is ideally located for those looking to vacation, work, or live here. It is part of the San Fernando Valley and is incorporated by the City of Los Angeles. Studio City is bordered by Sherman Oaks on the west, Valley Village to the north, and Burbank to the east. It covers a distance of five square miles and has a population of 26,000 people. It is situated inside the Santa Monica Mountains which is a location that provides easy access to major freeways that can lead into Beverly Hills, Hollywood, Downtown Los Angeles, and the San Fernando Valley.
The city received its name due to Mack Sennett's filming productions in the 1920s. He filmed during the silent film era and Sennett's sound stages are still used by CBS Television today. Before the 1920s, Studio City was merely rural land and Ventura Boulevard, only a country road.
Studio City has some of the highest priced properties in the San Fernando Valley because of its prime location. The median price of single-family residences is $800,000.
