Mar Vista

(Web site)

Mar Vista is located in the midst of the Westside communities. Northeast is Santa Monica, to the east is Palms and Culver City, to the south is Marina del Rey, and Venice situates itself to the west. Just off the 405 freeway, Mar Vista offers convenient access to the beach (3 miles away) as well as to the freeways. LAX is a close convenience being only 7 miles away and downtown Los Angeles being only 9 miles away.

The area is a bedroom community with affordable homes owned mostly by middle class persons. In the area north of Venice Blvd one will find hilly landscapes with 2 or 3-bedroom houses. South of Venice, one will find a flat landscape with apartments and multi-family units. In 2003, the average list price for a home was $386,705 and the average selling price was $488,277. The population is a diverse mixture of ethnicities, just as all of Los Angeles is.

Mar Vista Block MapNearby one can find businesses that suit any needs. In the bordering neighborhood of Culver City, shopping centers such as the Fox Hills Mall and the Culver Center shopping center will supply you with your retail needs. Close to Mar Vista are two medical facilities, Washington Medical Center and Brotman Medical Center. For those looking to attend college or send children to college West Los Angeles College, Santa Monica College, and Loyola Marymount University are located within the bordering communities.

As for entertainment, the possibilities are endless, largely due to the closeness of the ocean. Marina del Rey offers diverse types of water sports, the Venice boardwalk attracts many visitors and sights to see, and Santa Monica has many hot spots to choose from when considering the nightlife.
